About McLaren toy cars and diecast scale models
McLaren's dihedral doors are modelled on both the 720S and the Senna in 1:24, and the Senna's exposed rear wing struts are separate parts. On the racing side there are two MCL38s from 2024: Oscar Piastri's number 81 and Lando Norris's number 4 in the green-and-yellow Senna tribute livery from Monaco.
Dihedral doors and the Senna
McLaren's dihedral doors hinge at the front and open up and out at an angle, and both the 720S and the Senna models in 1:24 open them correctly. The Senna is the more demanding subject: its rear wing stands on separate struts, the side intakes are open, and the rear diffuser is deep. It is also the model most likely to lose a part in shipping, which is why it goes out with extra foam around the wing.
The 2024 McLaren Formula 1 cars
Both MCL38s are here in Bburago's licensed 1:43: Oscar Piastri's number 81 in the papaya and black, and Lando Norris's number 4 in the green and yellow Ayrton Senna tribute livery the team ran at Monaco. The Senna tribute was produced in a small run and sells out each time it arrives. For a McLaren that drives, the Rastar MCL36 remote control car in 1:18 is licensed by the team.
