About the Mercedes-AMG GT R 1:24
The GT R is the AMG GT that was developed at the Nürburgring and painted the colour of the place: a matt green that Mercedes called green hell magno. It has the vertical-slat Panamericana grille, a fixed rear wing and the wide rear arches, and the model has all three, with the grille as a separate chromed part and the wing as its own moulding.
Doors open, the long bonnet lifts over the twin-turbo V8 set back behind the front axle, and the rear hatch opens. Lights and an engine sound work from a button; the rear axle carries a pull-back motor. The body is metal in the green with the black diffuser and the yellow-accented wheels.
It is the road-car partner to the GT R Safety Car in 1:18, and the sports car on the Mercedes shelf.
Living with a 1:24 scale model
At 1:24 the model is around 19 cm long, compact enough for a desk and big enough for the doors to open and the dashboard to be readable. This is the scale to buy if you want a few cars rather than one, and the pull-back motor and lights make it the safest choice for a young enthusiast.
