About the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 1:18
The Wrangler is the one 1:18 we happily recommend for a younger enthusiast, because it does something no other model here does: the roof comes off. The front section lifts away over the front seats, the rear section over the back, exactly as the real Freedom Top panels do, and underneath is a modelled roll cage and the four seats. Children work this out in seconds.
The rest is a proper 1:18. Four doors open, the bonnet lifts to show the V6, the tailgate swings out with the full-size spare wheel mounted on it, and the front wheels steer. The tyres are chunky off-road pattern rubber, the bumpers are the Rubicon steel type with the red tow hooks, and the seven-slot grille is a separate part. Paint on this batch is a satin military green with black arches.
This is one of the sturdier 1:18s we sell, thanks to a high floor and thick sills. Roof panels press straight down to refit; do not push them at an angle.
Living with a 1:18 scale model
At 1:18 this is a large model, roughly a ruler's length, and it is built as a display piece rather than a toy. Expect metal body panels with proper hinges, a carpeted or textured floor inside, and a finished engine bay under the bonnet. Give it about 30 cm of shelf width and lift it by the roof or chassis, not the bumpers.
