About the 1:24 4WD
This is the entry point to RC drifting: a small 4WD chassis under a muscle-car shell, with hard slick tyres that let it slide on a tiled floor and a proportional trigger so you can hold the slide rather than spin. At 22 km/h it is quick in a room and manageable for a first-timer, and the 2.4 GHz radio means several can run together without interference.
The body is a white PVC shell with the LED headlights wired through it, light enough to keep the car nimble and tough enough to survive walls. The battery charges over USB in about an hour and runs for 20 to 30 minutes. The controller takes two AA cells, which are not included. Spare drift tyres are in the box.
It suits a teenager or a first RC buyer. The blue edition is the same car in a different shell, so two of them make a race.
Living with a 1:24 RC car
At 1:24 the model is around 19 cm long, compact enough for a desk and big enough for the doors to open and the dashboard to be readable. This is the scale to buy if you want a few cars rather than one, and the pull-back motor and lights make it the safest choice for a young enthusiast.
